Officer jailed over violent sex attack
A POLICE dog-handler has been jailed for the attempted rape of a woman who feared she was going to die.
Ernesto Ceraldi, 44, met his victim in a pub and they had consensual sex at her house in April. But his attitude then changed and he pulled her hair, pushed her against a wall and put a hand around her throat.
Preston crown court heard she fled the house in Rossendale, Lancs, chased by naked Ceraldi.
The victim said: “If I cannot trust a police officer with 21 years of service, who can I trust?”
Ceraldi, who quit Greater Manchester Police, was jailed for five years and four months after admitting attempted rape and assault.
The married dad of two will be subject to a sex offence notice for life.
