Johnson swerve on Carrie job requests
BORIS Johnson has refused to deny talking to aides about getting plum jobs for his wife Carrie.
The PM was asked if he had “ever considered” her appointment to either a taxpayer-funded government post or a job with the royals.
He swerved the question at PMQS yesterday instead referring to “nonexistent jobs in the media”, adding Carrie never took up the roles.
The Mirror revealed that he asked
Cabinet Secretary Simon Case in 2020 to approach The Royal Foundation.
It was reported Mr Case was given a “quiet rebuke” and the idea was “kicked into the long grass” after the Palace deemed it inappropriate.
Downing Street denied the PM had told Mr Case to approach the charity but did not deny he was involved in discussions. There is no suggestion that Mrs Johnson was aware of her husband’s endeavours.
