Dog groomer gets barking big water bill
A DOG parlour owner received a £1,640 water bill for 776,000 litres in one month, more than enough to fill a swimming pool.
Vicki Robertson, 37, said she was baffled, as her average charges were for one to two cubic litres.
She was also off work last September after donating a kidney.
The business owner said: “There is no way that I used that much water.”
A consumer body is trying to resolve the issue.
Water company Everflow said no leak was found at Holly’s Doggy Deli in Darlington, Co Durham.
It said: “We tried another route for reimbursement.
“This was rejected by the wholesaler as no proof was found to suggest the variation in meter readings was incorrect.”
