Abuse fiend wants to be ‘role model’

- BY PAT HURST

A MEMBER of the notorious Rochdale grooming gang told a judge he should not be deported as his son needs “a role model”.

Adil Khan, 51, and Qari Abdul Rauf, 52, are to be sent back to Pakistan for the public good, after both were in a group convicted of a catalogue of serious sex offences in May 2012.

But since release from jail, they have fought a battle against removal.

Khan, at a final deportation hearing yesterday, told Judge Charlotte Welsh he should be allowed to stay as “the father figure is very important in every culture, to be a role model for the child, to tell him or her right from wrong”.

Khan also claimed he is not wanted by family back home. The appeal hearing for both men continues.
