I read with interest your reply to the lady in her 40s who is experiencing depression for the first time (Dear Coleen, June 17).

Seeing the GP is a good idea, however, I had this issue for two years and took various antidepressants before finally being diagnosed with perimenopause.

After being prescribed HRT I finally got my life back. Something to think about.
