Ace Lynch closing in on return

- MICHAEL SCULLY

LIMERICK have been boosted by the return to training of Cian Lynch ahead of their All-ireland SHC semi-final clash with Galway on July 3.

The champions have been without their star midfielder since he suffered a hamstring injury in the Munster clash against Waterford on April 23.

“Cian is making fantastic progress through his rehab and hasn’t had any setback throughout the process,” said Treaty county boss John Kiely.

“The medical team have worked wonders with him, they set a plan and the timeline is bang in place.

“He’s re-engaged with training so the next week to 10 days are going to be key in terms of his involvement on the day but, in terms of where we want him to be, he’s exactly there.

“That was always the hope, the plan. We’re not entirely through that plan yet but we’re very happy with where we are now.”

In further positive news for Limerick, Peter Casey and Barry Murphy are also training fully again after suffering cruciate ligament injuries last autumn.
