Is halliwell the ‘east lancs ripper’?
STEVE Fulcher, who snared Halliwell, claimed in 2016 that the killer told him: “Police want to interview me about eight murders.”
The ex-detective added: “There is no question, from all the information I gathered running this inquiry in 2011, he committed other murders.”
He thinks they include that of Julie Finley, 23, from Liverpool, whose body was found in a field in 1994. Merseyside Police are investigating after a witness claimed Halliwell used a van like one spotted at the murder scene while living in Ormskirk, Lancs, that summer.
It is one of the unsolved cases that could have been committed by an
“East Lancs Ripper”, ex-police intelligence officer Chris Clark has said. In his book, the New Millenium Serial Killer, he also details the case of Maria Requena, 26, found at Pennington Flash Nature Reserve.
In October 1988 Linda Donaldson was found dead after vanishing from Liverpool’s red light district. Halliwell was said to have been “obsessed” with Swindon prostitute Sally Ann John, who vanished aged 23 in 1995.
Sandra Brewin who disappeared in 1994, Tina Pryer in 2001 and Thi Hai Nguyen in 2005, are all also from Wiltshire. Carol Clark, 32, was found dead in a canal after vanishing from Bristol’s red light district in 2003. Jackie Waines, 35, was abducted from Bristol and killed in 1985.
