Water and food cost a real Sharm
IRISH academic Hannah Daly may have been onto something when she suggested Egypt might be trying to give the global north a taste of what food and water insecurity is like with the sustenance available at COP27.
Extortionate food prices and water supplies that were done by midday didn’t go down well with delegates, needless to say.
I paid almost £20 for a measly lunch and drink on the
second day. £20
And while I might be able to afford that, I’m sure many from NGOS and poorer countries were really struggling.
After a raft of complaints they are now giving out free Coke, Sprite, Fanta and water as well as halving food prices.
Even so, a sandwich or burger will still set you back a good £8 when I can get my dinner outside of this bubble for around £2.
They really are putting the arm in and coming back for the stump.

This week, I urge you to have a think about what you could do to pressure your politicians to make the changes you would like to see in the world.
While things can often seem hopeless, doing something about it – no matter how small – could be the medicine you need.
And you never know, you might even inspire those around you.
