COP ON TO A NEW SYSTEM

-

PROGRESS has been slow so far at COP27 but when you need agreement from every delegation to make even the smallest change to help in the climate fight, how could it not be?

I totally understand the anger Greta Thunberg feels with the process. But she’s not alone. Ministers and leaders are all saying the same. How many of them mean it is another thing altogether.

Even a quick walk around the conference highlights where the money is. Fossil fuel delegates are up by 100 compared to last year at COP26 and with 636 of them, only one country delegation is bigger.

Talk about letting the fox into the VIP henhouse.

It’s time they didn’t get a say and countries around the world were not allowed to veto things we know are in the best interest of humanity. Perhaps the decision making process would move faster if each country was given a vote on each proposal and the majority saw pledges pass. We know time is running out but so far we’ve heard very little about what they are going to do about it.
