KLOPP: SHOW ME THE MONEY

- BY GIDEON BROOKS

JURGEN KLOPP believes new owners at Anfield could allow Liverpool to sign the sort of marquee names who have so far been out of reach.

The Reds have been constantly linked with Borussia Dortmund’s

England star Jude Bellingham but won’t be able to join a bidding war should mega-money rivals also express an interest.

That could change, however, with new owners.

“We have obviously been able to spend money, but we always had to first earn it,” Klopp (left) said. “The two biggest signings we’ve made so far are Alisson and Virgil van Dijk and we all know how it happened: we sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and spent it wisely, I would say.

“Sometimes you have to spend. We are happy to give all our young kids a chance, and I’m so positive about the impact they will have for us in the future.

“But from time to time you have to throw in proven quality. And, in an ideal world, they are young, not 35 years old.”
