Hunt rows back on bills help
HOUSEHOLDERS face crippling energy price hikes in April after Jeremy Hunt warned of fresh “constraints” on Government help.
The Chancellor insisted ministers would “continue to support families”, saying: “We don’t want anyone not to be able to afford to heat their home over this winter or indeed future winters.” But he added help would not be “uncapped” or “unlimited”, Mr Hunt said, adding: “There have to be some constraints.”
Treasury officials have discussed a scenario where average annual bills soar from £2,500 to between £2,850 and £3,100, according to reports.
