Biscuit factory staff to strike

- Ben.glaze@mirror.co.uk @benglaze

WORKERS who make Jacob’s Cream Crackers, Jaffa Cakes and Mini Cheddars go on indefinite strike today in a row over pay.

More than 750 staff at Jacob’s Biscuits factory in

Aintree, Merseyside, will walk out “every single day until bosses agree to negotiate”.

The GMB union’s Eamon O’hearn said: “These workers are rightly angry. They put themselves on the line to keep the company going during the pandemic. Now they need some help through the cost-of-living crisis, but it’s falling on deaf ears.”

Pay negotiations have dragged on for more than a year, according to sources. It is understood staff have been offered 4.25% rises but the GMB is thought to want 10%.

Jacob’s owners Pladis Global were contacted for comment.
