Andrew seizes on the chance for fightback

Royal hope after accuser ‘error’ Harry’s bond with grieving service kids

PRINCE Harry has told bereaved children of members of the Armed Forces how they share a bond due to having lost a parent.

In a letter to children in Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity supporting youngsters who have lost a parent in service, Harry said they were all in his “thoughts and heart” on

Remembrance Sunday. He said: “We share a bond without ever meeting one another, because we share in having lost a parent.

“I know first-hand the pain and grief that comes with loss and want you to know that you are not alone.”

Harry, whose mother Princess Diana died when he was 12, said: “I hope you can find comfort and strength in knowing that their love for you lives and shines on.”

The charity was founded by mum-of-two Nikki Scott in 2010, after the death of her husband Cpl Lee Scott in Afghanistan.

Ms Scott said: “We are so grateful to Prince Harry for his continued support.”

PRINCE Andrew is reportedly planning a fightback, adamant a return to public life may still be possible.

Last week Andrew’s accuser, Virginia Giuffre, dropped a case she had brought against US lawyer Alan Dershowitz, saying she “may have made a mistake” when she accused Dershowitz of sexual abuse.

Andrew, 62, paid Ms Giuffre, 39, a reported £12million to settle a civil case in which she accused him of sexual abuse.

He has consistently and vehemently denied the claims.

His ex-wife and loyal supporter Sarah Ferguson, 63, was jubilant after news of Ms Giuffre’s backdown.

A friend said: “There is a feeling Andrew wants to forge ahead with a new life but the only person who can agree to that is the monarch. It means these conversations will have to start all over again now that we have a new King.”

Andrew – whose friend Ghislaine Maxwell, 60, is in a US jail after being convicted of sex trafficking – is expected to be invited for Christmas at the Sandringham estate.

It will be the first time that Charles hosts the annual family gathering.

The news comes after Andrew spent Saturday shooting with Princess Anne, Prince Edward and other members of the Royal Family on the Windsor estate.

Charles was also seen in Windsor and is thought to have joined the family later. But Andrew was not present at the Cenotaph yesterday, as he is no longer able to take part in royal events.

He was also absent from a concert at the Albert Hall to remember those who fought in the Falklands conflict in 1982, when Andrew served with the Royal Navy.

The Duke was said to have been “blindsided” by a private meeting, held at Charles’ Birkhall estate in Scotland, days before the Queen died, when he was told there was “no way back” into The Firm. A spokesman for Prince Andrew

declined to comment.
