Bill only does Strictly healthy selfies, now!

There are perks to winning Strictly – says dancing has improved his selfie skills.

Bill Bailey

The comic, who won in 2020, credits partner Oti Mabuse with improving his posture, which is most noticeable when he poses for photos with fans.

“It’s changed my selfie life,” he laughs. “I looked at the ones before Strictly and the ones

after, and all the ones before, it’s me just standing there, slightly embarrassed.

“All the ones post-strictly, my posture’s changed. I have my arms up or my legs out or something – my toes out. My posture’s a bit better.”

It probably helps that Bill tours with a keto rider that includes low carb tortillas, vegetables and chicken and no sugar. He also exercises daily.

He reversed a pre-diabetic diagnosis by overhauling his diet back in 2019. “You have to be quite disciplined,” he says, speaking while touring in Australia. “I’m not 22 any more where you can just have a vindaloo every night.”

Bill is starring in a new radio comedy series Hennikay as a marketing exec dogged by his childhood imaginary friend.

“It’s a bit odd and that’s what drew me to it,” he says.

The Hennikay pilot episode is on Radio 4 and BBC Sounds from tomorrow before the series starts on November 22.
