IT WAS TOP TIER STUFF FROM MY BOYS
Portadown 0 Larne 5
TIERNAN LYNCH heaped praise on his Larne players after they surged back to the top of the Premiership with a 5-0 demolition of
Portadown on Saturday.
The visitors led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Leroy Millar and Ben Doherty.
They then came out in the second half and turned the screw, with Lee Bonis getting in on the act before Doherty notched his second and Cian Bolger completed the rout.
Lynch said: “They are a phenomenal bunch of boys who work unbelievably hard and it’s very player-led, that team.
“We got goals at good times, but at 2-0 up if they get the next goal it could have been difficult, but thankfully we came out like a steam train and blew Portadown away.”
A goal in each half by Ryan Curran secured the points for Cliftonville at Dungannon Swifts.
Curran opened the scoring on 23 minutes with a cool finish, before wrapping up the win on 66 minutes.
Newry City ran out 4-1 winners over Carrick Rangers at the Showgrounds.
Donal Rocks’ 28th minute opener was cancelled out by Andy Mitchell but a goal from Philip Donnelly and a James Teelan brace secured a deserved win for Newry.
