Players need a chance to learn while they earn

-

THE DP World Tour’s alliance with the PGA Tour means the top 10 on the merit list will gain access to America next season.

As such, a win for the lower ranked players can be a stepping stone to a career changing situation.

Some don’t agree with this – and that’s understandable. But the old adage of strength in numbers does make sense.

There were 11 Americans playing at Tour school and that’s a positive.

Maybe the college system in the States, which allows access to PGA Tour courses, could also be incorporated for European players as they forge a career in the paid ranks.

The LIV Tour has tried to tap into this market. It’s a clever move. The stars of tomorrow will come from this system – Brooks Koepka learned so much from his time in Europe.

Turning professional is a learning curve.

There are very few ‘can’t miss’ prospects out there and that avenue should be explored.
