ALL RELATIVE FOR AUSSIE ACE FOLEY
IT isn’t long lost Irish cousins Bernard Foley is searching for this week, it’s consistency for the Wallabies against world rugby’s current benchmark.
Foley’s father, Michael, has Cork roots but the Australian out-half (left) isn’t expecting any Munster-based Foleys to make contact this week.
“No, I haven’t had any reaching out yet,” he smiled. “No long lost cousins, unfortunately.
“I’m sure there are a fair few Foleys in Ireland that if you looked hard enough down the family tree, we are probably all related.”
The 33-year-old has a lot of admiration for what Andy Farrell’s squad have managed to achieve – and would love the Wallabies to follow suit.
“They’ve been the benchmark for consistency over a number of years.
“That’s probably why they’re number one – and that’s a great challenge for us as a team, we’re searching for that consistency in our performances week after week.
“That’s what we’re excited for, to really embrace this week and the opportunity that we get to really test ourselves against the best.”
