SCOTS TURK A DEFEAT
JOHN MCGINN scored a stunning goal but could not prevent Scotland slipping to a rare loss against Turkey last night.
It was a third defeat in 16 for Steve Clarke’s side, who looked shaky defensively in the first clash of the nations in 62 years.
Turkey seized control of the friendly in Diyarbakir when Ozan Kabak headed home a a free-kick befoe the break. A quick breakaway saw Cengiz Under net after the restart with Stuart
Armstrong guilty of losing possession. Mcginn (below) scored the goal of the night on the hour to give the Tartan Army some hope.
The Aston Villa midfielder broke from his own half before firing home from distance.
But his stunning strike was mere consolation and Mcginn said: “We were good at times. It was a testing environment and it’s not an easy place to come. We we will learn from this.”
