TWO Russians and a Ukrainian received life sentences yesterday after being convicted of murdering 298 people on the downed Flight MH-17.
Igor Girkin, then army commander of the selfproclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, was convicted in absentia for his part in the 2014 Buk missile attack on the Malaysia Airlines flight over Ukraine.
His subordinates, Sergey Dubinskiy and Ukrainian rebel Leonid Kharchenko were also sentenced at a courtroom at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
Anton Kotte, who lost his son, daughter-in-law and six-year-old grandson said it was a “D-day” for relatives.
He added: “The truth [is] on the table, that is the most important thing.”
