Skewered? Hancock faces sack

- BY MARK JEFFERIES

MATT Hancock makes the most of being on the right side of a grilling ahead of the Covid inquiry as he takes charge of the barbecue on the beach.

The former Health Secretary joined Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver and Euro champion footballer Jill Scott after they won a day away from the jungle.

But today he faces being ousted from high office again – as the campmates get to vote for a new leader.

A show source said: “In theory Matt could retain the title of leader, but it seems about as likely as him still being an MP after the next general election. They will want a change in camp.”

Tonight he also finds out if viewers have forgiven him after show bosses confirmed the first eviction will take place.

Earlier this week we revealed how the first campmate was set to leave in tonight’s extended 95-minute show – and now this has been confirmed by ITV.

As always, viewers will be voting on who should stay in the jungle, so a mass vote to oust Hancock will not be possible.

Instead he would need to win the fewest votes to get his marching orders.

When asked earlier in the series about being forced to quit the Cabinet, he admitted he is on the show “looking for forgiveness”.

Others tipped for possible eviction include Charlene White, who has upset some viewers through her bossiness and refusal to sleep in the RV on a mattress as deputy camp leader.

Scarlette Douglas, who has a relatively low profile next to stars such as Boy George and Mike Tindall, is another favourite to go.
