WILL HE DO IT AGAIN?

-

WILL SKELTON has broken Leinster hearts before but he insists it is a whole new ball game when it comes to playing Ireland.

Whether it was with Saracens or with his current club La Rochelle, the lock (above) has taken the Blues down in Champions Cup finals with his immense physicality.

However, he is on the bench for the Wallabies on Saturday, a decision perhaps influenced by the tightness he felt in his calf on Tuesday in training following the historic loss to Italy last Saturday.

“That wasn’t up to my standards,” said the 30-year-old. “But we are fully invested in rectifying that this week against a really strong Irish team.”

Skelton’s club form has not transferred as yet to the Test arena and he admits this weekend could be the last chance saloon with the World Cup in mind.

But he warned: “It’s Ireland, it’s not Leinster. It’s very different, the step up from club to international footy. Whenever you put on the jersey, whether it’s for Ireland or Australia, you

step up.”
