BRUNO GUIMARAES wants to emulate his childhood hero Ronaldo and bring Brazil to a standstill.

The Newcastle midfielder (left) recalls celebrating in the street with his family when Ronaldo clinched the World Cup with two goals against Germany

in 2002. He was a kid then, and says he has earned his call-up after being in fine form for Toon.

Guimaraes said: “I remember everything stopped in Brazil and people went out onto the streets to celebrate.

“The players came along on top of a big truck and we all went out onto the street to

follow it. It was one of the best moments of my life.”

Brazil players filmed themselves watching TV and celebrating being named in the squad – and Guimaraes added: “I genuinely believe I deserve it.

“It is very difficult to perform in the Premier League and I’ve been playing very well.”
