Truckers are loo-sing out

MORE than £32million set aside to improve toilets for lorry drivers remains “entirely unspent” a year on, says Unite.

The union said that in October 2021, then-chancellor Rishi Sunak gave £32.5m to the Department for Transport to use.

But after a Freedom of Information request, the DFT admitted: “No companies have as yet received funding.” It said it was working to allocate funds.

Unite’s Adrian Jones said: “Drivers will be incensed.”
