Your weekly gardening to-do list

■ Cut well-budded stems of witch hazel, winter jasmine and other winter-flowering shrubs a few days before you want to use them in arrangements.

■ There’s still time to plant tulip and hyacinth bulbs, and should you discover any bags of other bulbs that you forgot, plant them anyway.

■ Sow troughs of mixed baby leaf salads and keep on a windowsill indoors to produce garnishes over Christmas and New Year.
