Kieffer will be key in Qatar

-

KIEFFER MOORE has been worth his weight in gold for Bournemouth in both boxes.

And if Wales can maintain the supply line of crosses to him, I fancy Moore to make his presence felt on the Arabian peninsula.

For the Dragon to breathe fire, we are all hoping to see Gareth Bale at his best – and he comes into the tournament on the back of winning the MLS Cup in America with Los Angeles FC.

And my old roommate Robert Page will lead his country into their first World Cup finals in 64 years with fierce pride.

For me, it is imperative that Wales do not lose their opening match against the United States. Even a 0-0 draw would not be the worst result.

But as a target man and defending the near post at set-pieces, Moore (above) will be a huge asset for Page.

Last month, Bournemouth faced a barrage of 19 corners against Tottenham. Moore was immense in his own box and still found the energy to score twice at the other end, even if Spurs finally won 3-2.

If Wales can take at least a point from the USA, Moore will have an important part to play in how far they can go in Qatar.

But lose that opener, and I fear they will struggle to get out of the group.
