Targets axed in waits crisis

-

HEALTH Secretary Steve Barclay said he wants “fewer” NHS targets amid record waits for patients.

He admitted medics are under “huge pressure”, adding local health bosses could set their own priorities.

The number of A&E patients being seen within four hours fell to 69% in October, well below the 95% target.

More than seven million people are waiting for hospital treatment.

Lib Dem Daisy Cooper said: “When it comes to health and social care, this government hasn’t got a clue.”
