Met’s Stormy Monday alert

WILD wintry weather will lash much of western England and Wales today.

High winds, plunging temperatures, icy roads and rain will all strike, according to forecasters.

Winds could gust up to 80mph in coastal areas and possibly affect air travel at Cardiff and Exeter.

The Met Office’s Alex Burkill said low pressure areas “will bring some very wet and windy weather”.

Temperatures are expected to drop to -4C in the North East early on.
