HAMILTON IN HEAD SCRATCHER

GLENAVON 0 COLERAINE 0

- BY STEVEN CRAWFORD

GARY HAMILTON was left scratching his head after his Glenavon side failed to score against Coleraine on Saturday.

The Lurgan Blues spurned numerous opportunities to take the points in an entertaining affair at Mourneview Park.

“You get these days in football when you play well but you don’t get your rewards,” said Hamilton (inset).

“We created numerous chances, we had four in the first half alone.

“I can’t even remember how many chances we created in the second half, if it was a boxing match it probably would have been ended.

“Unfortunately in football you have to score goals and we didn’t take our chances.

“That’s the only criticism I can have, we weren’t clinical in front of goal.”

Coleraine were without Lyndon Kane, Matthew Shevlin and Jamie Glackin, and boss Oran Kearney praised his players for grinding out the draw.

“We were down to the bare bones but I’ve got to give big credit to the players,” he said.

“We stood really strong and we could have won at the end but we will take our point and move on.”

Philip Lowry scored twice as

CRUSADERS ran out 4-0 winners against NEWRY CITY.

Paul Heatley and Billy Joe Burns were also on target against City, who had Philip Donnelly sent off in the first half.

Second half goals from Lloyd Anderson and Cameron Stewart secured the points for

CARRICK RANGERS against bottom of the table

PORTADOWN.
