DRAGONS’ GIANT WEAPON AGAINST IRAN

- FROM JAMES NURSEY

CHRIS MEPHAM knows first-hand what a nightmare Wales striker Kieffer Moore is for rival defences.

Mepham’s Bournemouth and Wales team-mate (right) is a sure starter for Friday’s must-win clash after his eye-catching appearance off the bench against the USA.

The 6ft 5in giant striker helped transform Wales’ game and earn his country a point. Mepham said: “Any team coming up against him will struggle. Playing with him, I know how much of a handful he can be.

“We looked a lot better in the second half. We changed our mindset.

“We had to be more aggressive, braver with the ball, and that coincided with

Kieffer coming on.” Despite earning a point, Mepham knows Wales must be better to progress. He said: “We know we can be miles better. We’ll look to take the game to Iran. “We know goal difference is massive. We want to put down a marker with a good scoreline.”
