Christmas ad cut following cancer fears
WAITROSE has edited its Christmas ad that showed farmers comparing sun tans following criticism by melanoma patients and a skin cancer charity.
The ad shows producers as they grow food for the Christmas dinner table, including a scene in which two farmers compare their tanned arms.
Waitrose previously apologised after Melanoma UK and viewers said the scene failed to highlight dangers of the sun.
One person who has melanoma wrote on Waitrose’s Facebook post: “This is a kick in the teeth for all melanoma patients.”
The scene has now been cut. A Waitrose spokeswoman said: “We’ve listened to the comments made about the serious message of sun safety.”
