CHOOSE A CAREER THAT FEELS RIGHT FOR YOU...

-

More than a quarter of young people believe their parents hate their jobs, and the under-25s are determined not to make the same mistakes.

Research released this month from Gatsby Charitable Foundation (gatsby.org.uk) shows that Gen Z wants to find jobs that they enjoy and something that aligns with their natural skills, hobbies and passions. Parents agree and their attitudes towards their children’s careers have also shifted with more than half (54%) believing it’s more important than ever to pursue your passions.

Parents are even putting their child’s passions ahead of “highly regarded” careers, such as being a doctor or lawyer, with just 5% claiming high-flying roles are a priority. To help young people explore the vital but often hidden role of technicians and to inspire more young people to consider technical careers most aligned to their interests and preferences, Gatsby has launched technicians. org.uk and sciencemuseum.org.uk/ see-and-do/technicians-davidsainsbury-gallery.

Both are full of guidance for people who love science, engineering or tech to help them find their dream career.
