Czech Sphinx with a stake in West Ham
BILLIONAIRE Daniel Kretinsky is not only the biggest single shareholder in Royal Mail’s parent company, but he also has the second largest stake in supermarket giant Sainsbury’s. The 47-year-old owns a big chunk of West Ham United and co-owns the Sparta Prague footie club in the Czech Republic.
Mr Kretinsky, whose overall wealth is estimated at £3billion, is dating Czech showjumper Anna Kellnerova, 25.
Mr Kretinsky is described as secretive and is said to have got his “Czech Sphinx” nickname from his approach to investing, making his fortune snapping up unloved assets, including ageing coal power stations and giving them a new lease of life.
This year he reportedly bought a French castle known as “little Versailles” for £37million.
