For dry lips

-

Cold and windy winter weather can wreak havoc on your skin, including your lips. Here are a few things you can try to stop them from drying out.

Lip balm This might be obvious but it does matter which type you choose. Go for one that’s ointment-based, such as glycerine, which will keep your lips moisturised. Try to avoid lip balms that contain menthol or eucalyptus as these could be irritating. Also make sure your lip balm contains a sunscreen – yes, even in winter.

Keep hydrated Water is good for your skin so it’s good for your lips, too, making them feel less dry. Carry a bottle of water with you during the cold months as well.

Don’t lick your lips The first thing we tend to do when our lips feel dry is to lick them. However, saliva makes them dry out faster, so keep applying lip balm instead.

Don’t exfoliate them It’s another skincare fad that can make things worse. It can dry your lips out even more, creating more cracks. Don’t do it.
