FANS SINK 30M PINTS

-

THIRTY million pints were drunk in the UK on the biggest night of the year as 18 million watched England on ITV last night.

The big game also caused sick days to double and an afternoon slope-off saw millions dodge work.

With Wales also on TV at 10am yesterday, sickness absence was up 91% on the same Friday last year, said Brighthr, which monitors absence among 814,000 employees at 52,000 UK companies.

Many other staff worked from home all day – and an early rush-hour from 3pm saw millions quit offices, with many roads quiet ahead of the 7pm kick-off.
