I have real life sentence unlike my daughter’s murderer

- BY HOLLIE BONE

THE mum of a 12-year-old girl stabbed to death at a Christmas lights switch-on says she has a true life sentence, unlike the killer.

Ava White was fatally stabbed in the neck by a boy of 14. The pair had argued over footage posted on Snapchat at the Liverpool lights bash on November 25 last year.

In July the boy was convicted of murder and given a life sentence with a minimum of 13 years.

But speaking publicly for the first time since the attack, Ava’s mum, Leanne, 39, told BBC Radio Merseyside yesterday: “We’re the ones living the life sentence.

“It’s easier for the offender to do the crime, get 13 years in jail and come out after that. It’s us doing the life sentence, and Ava.” The family have set up the Ava White Foundation, which campaigns to get life-saving bleed packs made available across Liverpool.

Ava’s sister Mia said: “I don’t think it’s ever going to sink in.”
