Anger as axed minister returns
RISHI Sunak has been slammed for reappointing an ex-business partner of Jacob Rees-mogg just a month after axing him.
No10 confirmed Dominic Johnson, a Tory donor and former party vicechair-man, has returned as a minister in the International Trade department.
EX-PM Liz Truss appointed him at the beginning of last month, handing him a life peerage to carry out the role. But Lord Johnson, who co-founded an investment firm with
Rees-mogg, held the job for just 26 days before Mr Sunak sacked him.
Responding to his reappointment by the PM, Shadow Attorney General Emily Thornberry said: “Surely this isn’t true. Dominic Johnson has been reappointed? “The same Dominic Johnson who was sacked a month ago and then told farmers to convert their farms into offices? “Please tell me this is a joke.”
She was referring to a report which said Johnson had argued agricultural businesses should be helped to “transition buildings” into “offices or whatever it is”.
