KDB FEELING FRUSTRATED
KEVIN DE BRUYNE is used to perfection when he plays for Manchester City, with Erling Haaland, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden for company.
But his frustration at Belgium’s lack of quality and slow start to the tournament – as they laboured to a 1-0 win over Canada on Wednesday – was evident in the midfielder’s body language.
De Bruyne (above) repeatedly lost his temper.
The 31-year-old threw his hands up in disgust toward his team-mates on the field, and engaged in a heated discussion with defender Toby Alderweireld and coach Roberto Martinez during a break in play.
And after the match, he even mocked the decision to vote him the player of the match. He was in no mood to celebrate.
“I know I have to adapt to my team-mates,” said De Bruyne, whose side take on Morocco tomorrow.
“Sometimes I get very agitated because I’m a perfectionist.
“I cannot do this job by myself. I will need everybody else. I need to raise the level of the other guys – if we want to do a successful tournament.”
