SAM’S FINEST 0UR

- BY NEWSBOY NEWBURY RUNNERS & RIDERS: PAGE 6

OUR POWER is fancied to prove the potent force in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase (3.05, ITV3) at Newbury today.

Twice a winner in his first season over fences last term, the Sam Thomas-trained seven-year-old returned with a two-length margin in a big-money handicap chase at Ascot four weeks ago. That success came over three miles, and the way Our Power galloped through the line suggested this additional two furlongs would be right up his street.

The dry winter might be causing a few headaches among the training fraternity, but decent ground is perfect for Our Power.

There is a 5lb rise in the weights to deal with here, but Sam Twistondavies’ mount has plenty more to offer.
