Is it ninth time lucky for Terry?
AN England superfan is cheering on the team at a World Cup for the ninth time. Terry Matson, 61, went to his first in Spain in 1982 and has only missed one the team have qualified for since – France ’98, due to sciatica.
The bricklayer, from Sittingbourne, Kent, was in Mexico for Maradona’s Hand of God goal and in Turin for the
1990 penalties heartache against West Germany. He said of the latter: “I’ve never seen so many England fans who, emotionally, couldn’t handle what happened after the Germany game. “There were so many people crying outside... but that’s football.”
