Ignorance a real waste of your energy

ALMOST three-quarters of adults are paying higher bills because they have no idea which appliances use the most energy.

Only 28% know their oven is the biggest contributor to electricity bills.

It costs 30 times more than a microwave.

And the research by EDF found only 22% wash clothes at 30 degrees, despite experts saying it could use 40% less energy.

EDF energy expert Catherine Fowler said we can all make small changes. She added: “For example, switching from using the tumble dryer to an airer or only using the dishwasher when it is full can go a long way to reducing bills.”
