MY AMAZING ARTWORK

-

This jolly bucolic painting was a brilliant 60th gift for a man who had everything – except his favourite cockerel who had died a few months earlier.

“A colleague wanted to give her husband something he would appreciate at 60, and as most men are hard to buy for, I did this portrait of his beloved bird,” says amateur artist Jayne Heath, who lives surrounded by beautiful countryside in Leek, Staffordshire.

The 61-year-old retired teaching assistant is now taking care of her husband as he recovers from cancer. She says: “I have always drawn and painted as a hobby. I’ve found it a good outlet for stress – especially in my job as I often worked with special needs children.”
