Musk dumps Twitter Covid cranks policy
TWITTER has quietly stopped trying to halt the spread of Covid-19 misinformation on the site.
The social media platform introduced the policy during the pandemic and removed thousands of potentially harmful and misleading tweets.
However, a note on its web page has appeared, saying: “Effective November 23 2022, Twitter is no longer enforcing the Covid-19 misleading information policy.”
The company did not publicly announce the change but it will raise new concerns after billionaire Elon Musk’s takeover.
He has laid off more than half of the platform’s 7,500 staff, which has increased fears about the firm’s ability to moderate the site successfully.
