COACH IS TO BLAME SAYS CAV

- FROM SIMON MULLOCK

FORMER Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has hinted that coach Diego Alonso is to blame for Uruguay’s World Cup struggles.

Uruguay need to beat Ghana in their final group game to have any chance of reaching the last 16 following the 2-0 defeat by Portugal. They sit bottom of their group with just one point and Cavani (above) suggested that Alonso must carry the can.

Cavani said: “You will have to ask Alonso about why we lost.

“He will be able to explain what happened tactically. There are things for us to correct. We need to prepare for the next game as we should prepare.”
