Mayor’s train for rail chaos summit axed

A MAYOR on her way to meet the Transport Minister over the rail crisis had her train cancelled.

Tracy Brabin was among five Northern mayors meeting Mark Harper.

The Mayor of West Yorkshire was travelling from Leeds to Manchester.

She said yesterday: “The platform was packed as we all waited for the next. This misery can’t go on.”

PM Rishi Sunak hit out at the “unacceptable deterioration” in services.

Thousands of trains have been axed during a dispute over staff hours.

The row has hit Transpennine Express, Avanti West Coast and Northern.

Mr Harper said the talks were “constructive”.
