Botham lad’s drop-kicking record effort

- BY STEPHEN WHITE

CRICKET legend Sir Ian Botham’s nine-year-old grandson is planning a world record attempt.

Rugby fan Dominick Armstrong will try to kick more than 36 drop goals in three minutes next month.

He is the first child to attempt the record.

Dominick’s Guinness World Records attempt will also raise funds to fight motor neurone disease after the death of rugby union player Doddie Weir aged 52 on Saturday.

Doddie was diagnosed with MND in 2016. Rugby league star Rob Burrow also has the condition.

Dominick said: “I was really upset and just felt I had to do something.”

The aspiring rugby pro has been practising at his school, Barnard Castle Prep in Co Durham.
