LOVE Actually is all around, two decades on – but Richard Curtis reckons it’s a bit out of date now.

The 2003 blockbuster has become a fixture of the festive season, but there are some aspects that make the award-winning screenwriter wince.

Curtis, 66, says: “There are things you’d change. My film is bound, in some moments, to feel out of date.

“The lack of diversity makes me feel uncomfortable and a bit stupid.”

Speaking on US TV special The

Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later, he adds: “There is such extraordinary love that goes on every minute in so many ways, all the way around the world, and makes me wish my film was better.”

Dame Emma Thompson, 63, who played long-suffering wife Karen in the film, tells the documentary that Curtis is a “truly good person”. Hugh Grant, 62, who played the dancing Prime Minister, says: “He is funny...and [the story] comes from the heart.”

Bill Nighy, 72, who won a

BAFTA for his role as ageing rocker Billy Mack, says: “I have people coming up to me saying it got me through my chemotherapy, or my divorce, or I watch it whenever I’m alone. It’s a wonderful thing to be a part of.”

Other stars interviewed for the show are Martine Mccutcheon, 46, Laura Linney, 58, Game of Thrones star Thomas Brodie-sangster, 32, who played young Romeo Sam, and Olivia Olson, 30, who was the schoolboy’s love interest Joanna.
