Triple killer’s ‘ready for an open prison’
A MURDERER who killed his wife and young children should be moved to an open prison, the Parole Board has said.
Phillip Austin was jailed for life with a minimum 20 years in 2001 after strangling Claire, 31, eight-yearold Kieren and Jade, seven.
He also battered the family’s two poodles to death at their Northampton home in 2000.
While the panel said he was not ready for release, they said Austin should be switched due to his “continuing good progress” during rehabilitation.
It added there was “no suggestion that Mr Austin would be likely to abscond if he were to be moved to an open prison”.
The final decision over his future lies with Justice Secretary Alex Chalk.
MANAGER Jose Mourinho has been charged with abusing referee Anthony Taylor before ugly scenes at the airport in which Italian fans attacked the match official and his family.
The Roma boss confronted Mr Taylor, 44, in the stadium car park after his side lost to Sevilla on penalties in the Europa League final.
Yesterday Mr Taylor, out with wife Anne-marie and their dog near their Greater Manchester home, would not comment on Wednesday’s nasty encounter at Budapest Airport.
Disgruntled Roma footie fans hurled abuse and threw chairs and food after the family was spotted in the food court waiting to fly home.
Anne-marie was shoved in the commotion and their terrified daughter was close to tears as security staff ushered them to safety.
APPALLED
Earlier Mourinho had been seen shouting and swearing at Mr Taylor.
Video clips show the ex-chelsea and Manchester United boss gesticulating before saying “disgrace” and swearing in three languages.
The Professional Game Match Officials Ltd, responsible for English refs, said it was “appalled”.
Earlier this year Martin Cassidy, of the charity Ref Support, said “it is a matter of time before someone dies” as a result of abuse levelled at officials.
Others have questioned why a wealthy body such as the FA allowed a referee to fly home from the standard class section of the airport alongside disappointed fans.
Former England captain Rio Ferdinand tweeted: “How has he been left to walk without security. The authorities have to start thinking worstcase scenarios the way things are.”
Mourinho’s charge for using insulting or abusive language towards an official is one of a number of accusations levelled by UEFA against both clubs after a stormy final.
One Italian fan has been charged with affray at the airport.
