Preacher of hate before I came out

A FORMER hate preacher who radicalised at least one British jihadi and considered a bomb attack in London has changed his views – and come out as gay.

Sohail Ahmed, 23, says he was indoctrinated by strict parents and a religious school in East London. As a student he told followers the West was at war with Islam and unbelievers were evil.

But his sexuality and help from former extremists at the Quilliam Foundation changed him.

He said: “At college I would tell people the West was the enemy.” Two of his friends there went to Syria to fight, Sohail believes. He said: “I got a call from one who said he was with the brothers. I was involved with radicalising him.”

Sohail considered bombing London’s Canary Wharf but was “afraid”.

His parents have disowned him after failing to “exorcise” his sexuality.

“IS throw gay people off buildings,” Sohail added. “What especially disturbed me was that it could have been me carrying it out.”
