Tumour test cancer hope

-

A BLOOD test that helps cancer patients beat the disease by tracking their tumours has been created.

The method, from British scientists, filters out tumour DNA from the blood, to be analysed for genetic faults.

The test can be used throughout patients’ treatment, so doctors can see if therapy is working or if changes need to be made.

Currently tests are done before and after treatment.

Prof Johann de Bono, of the Institute of Cancer Research, said it “could have a huge impact on how we make treatment decisions”.
