Fly-past for WWII air ace
AN RAF war hero will be at a fly-past by the UK’s last airworthy Lancaster Bomber – the aircraft he flew 31 wartime missions in.
It comes after Donald Nicholson, 92, was reunited with four medals he feared lost at this month’s unveiling of the Bomber Command memorial in Lincoln.
The Lancaster has been passed fit to fly after an engine blaze grounded it.
The medals, handed to police, were found near Donald’s home in Houghtonle-Spring, Co Durham. He said: “I am so grateful.”
